Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

I know what you're getting at but funnily enough, it depends what you mean by "make it". In both of those markets there's a large expat community which is made up of "minorities" holding executive/leadership positions (ie above management).

    Careers Expo Video I made

It's pleasant? But it's not clear to me what the point of the video is.

    Singapore

Just provides a bit more colour to the quote and whether it was around homogeneous vs diverse/multicultural populations in response to your original post of "what did he mean by this?". I'm not saying I agree/disagree but as someone with cultural ties to the area and having lived/lworked in...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

In my former organisation we actually spent significant time and resources deep diving into this... and rather than derail this thread, let's just say there was definitely some institutionalised biases at play in how the next generation of leaders was identified and included on the long term...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

My parents told me similar stories as well from their childhood in poverty. If you didn't eat quick you didn't eat. Funny how these stories stay with us and pass down generations. That being said my daughter is a pretty picky eater so I don't know if I've managed to instill this value in her!

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

Just wanted to respond to this individual question even though it was directed at someone else... I wholeheartedly say yes to this whenever someone asks me this question. Was it worth working full time and studying full time in my early 20's to get ahead? Yes. Was it worth it to keep working...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

I find this thread really interesting particularly with some of the older members commenting... I think perspectives definitely change as you grow both personally and professionally, and have a better understanding of the way things work. Regardless of any individual circumstances, I think the...

    cadetship

Maybe try finding people who are current/former cadets and ask them to share their experiences, and see if it's what you actually are interested in doing.

    cadetship

You realise it's a full time job and you need to be committed enough to deliver on work, and balance your studies as well? It generally goes to higher performing students who can do this. Also you might want to research more into which companies/jobs actually offer cadetships since if you...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

Thanks for putting in the effort to provide a meaningful response. I don't disagree with the points you're making and your observation about rental property viewings, but I still don't chalk it all up to too much immigration (although it is still a contributing factor). I personally subscribe...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

With some broad assumptions that a family earning that amount, the couple would presumably be on higher level roles which means their income isn't always in cash/paid monthly, and maybe they're a bit older so they've recently started a family with say two kids in childcare (which wouldn't be...

Sydney’s median house price to hit $2m, Perth $1m by 2027

I don't think immigration is the issue since that actually helps fuel the economy, encourage supply, etc... but I'd say foreign investors and CGT/etc definitely distort the market a bit, somewhat offset by banks charging higher interest rates for investors (but that really only impacts people...

    Advice for 1st-time driver?

    1. Start learning in a carpark, and try to use a professional instructor as much as you can early on so you don't develop any bad habits... and again just before the test to make sure you haven't picked anything up along the way. 2. If you actually do your hours properly, you won't be phased or...

Best degree for making as much money as possible while maintaining a good work life balance

Sounds like cyber is what you're more keen on, and at least in 2023, it is a far more booming/exciting area to be in. That being said, where are you based? IMO working in a consulting firm to do work with big corporates... that's a far better opportunity for you than working with your local...

I remember the day I actually learnt the rules of how minesweeper works and suddenly all those days sitting in the computer lab at school became that much more enjoyable. ... then we got better computers and installed CS 1.6.

    actuarial studies vs data science

Pure actuarial roles (ie actuary working for an insurer) is a well trodden path but there's quite a lot of pathways once can take if they have the core capabilities downpat... Similarly to law, the skills/mindset/behaviour can be applied to other areas.

    Actuarial

Question is why you are doing 3u and not 4u IMO. That might be a good indicator as to whether actuarial studies is the right path for you.

    Sam Davis isn't incompetent

I'm old but come back every now and then... :) But for what it's worth, of all the things I studied in my HSC, IPT is probably the one which proved to be the most useful in my professional career (in accounting) and I still beenfit from learning those concepts (such as how to read/draw a...
