Hi all,
I need to fill up the required credits for my Economic major so I can graduate and I'm unsure which senior economic subject I should take.
Personally, I picked the ones bolded below but I would love to hear your opinion on the non-bolded subjects :)

ECOS2004, ECOS2025, ECOS2201, ECOS2307, ECOS3002, ECOS3004, ECOS3005, ECOS3006, ECOS3007, ECOS3008, ECOS3010, ECOS3011, ECOS3012, ECOS3013, ECOS3016, ECOS3017, ECOS3018, ECOS3020, ECOS3022, ECOS3023, ECOS3024

I know the numbers can make it hard to read and can get irritating but thank you so much in advance for helping me to pick the subjects.
I appreciate it :)

I' assuming you've done ECOS2X01 and ECOS2X02. If that's the case, then you only need 4 ECOS3XXX units to complete your major, so you don't need the ECOS2XXX units you've bolded unless if you want to do them for fun.

I'm currently taking ECOS3018 Economics of Growth in summer school, and so far it's an interesting unit with a great lecturer. It's macroeconomics but presents the ideas theoretically like a microeconomics unit. The lecturer also recommend ECOS3004 History of Economic Thought a few times, because it provides a useful understanding of how different economic models and schools were developed and influenced by one-another.

I'm personally find microeconomics more interesting, so units like ECOS3012 and ECOS3016 sounds very interesting. The former is great if you want to study a little more game theory, and the latter is apparently an interesting course overall.

I'm not that in touch with the rest of the units, unfortunately.

Best of luck!

Hi sida1049,
Thank you for replying to my post. I have heard that ECOS3018 and ECOS3004 are interesting subjects however I have been given mixed responses regarding the two. For you, do you reckon the subjects require a lot of focus to pass? Also what level of difficulty the 2 subjects are on.

Thanks in advance. Goodluck to you too!

I haven't taken ECOS3004 yet.

For ECOS3018 though, it seems to be fairly straightforward so far. The course is slightly conceptual, and you need to be able to read the algebra, but the lecture doesn't expect you to reproduce any of the mathematics in the lecturers, and in fact is happy for you to write all of your answers non-mathematically and intuitively. All I've been doing for this class is to make notes, and read my own notes, and that seems to be enough so far, so I don't think this course is particularly difficult or anything.

Hope that helps.
