Hi,

I'm beginning the final year of my IT degree at UNSW and am seriously thinking of transferring to medicine. I just wanted to ask if this can be done through UMAT or will I have to take GAMSAT instead?

Also, which universities offer entry for undergrad students through UMAT and what are the requirements? I have a high credit WAM, but is that too low?

Thanks a lot!

if you want to do med at UNSW then u need to do umat and ur atar needs to be around 96 despite having a good wam. Other undergrad unis in nsw include UWS, Newcastle/New england.

U can also do GAMSAT if u want to do grad entry into med at other universities.

You can only do undergraduate medicine at unsw if you're in your first year of a degree at unsw or your in year 12, (or second year of med science through their lateral entry but that's another topic). Your only other option to get into medicine is to do postgraduate at usyd, anu, wollongong or notre dame. Plus doing the gamsat.

Good luck with everything and hope your pathway to med is successful.

You can also be 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year, or a graduate of UNSW or any other Aus uni, sit the UCAT and apply for UNSW med as a non-standard applicant. (But you should have 98+ ATAR and good GPA to have a reasonable chance).

Oh really, lol I didn't know that. I thought if you were in your first year or year 12 only. Thanks for telling me. The guys at unsw should probably get their facts corrected since that's what they told me. Thanks again for telling me
