    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

Don't feel like that.I've lurked on this thread for the past few weeks and I know exactly what you guys are going through (except you people with the interviews at every firm ;).) I'm going to explain the story at the other end which you don't really hear (because this doesn't really get...

    Summer clerkships

Plus you never ever really know what the firms want from you - this process is very arbitrary, and is very much based on luck for the majority of applicants. There are those who *do* have the amazing grades, personality, extracurriculars + happened to get along very well with the interviewers -...

Can't decide between UNSW or USyd Com/Law

USYD is building a new law building though, which is going to be situated on the main campus.

Can't decide between UNSW or USyd Com/Law

i guess the question is then what makes a law student different to any other uni student? apart from the obvious...lugging heavy casebooks around uni isn't really a worthwhile point. but to actually assist the OP, i don't think there is a huge difference between UNSW or Usyd Com/Law...

Can't decide between UNSW or USyd Com/Law

they also have a caffeine addiction and eye bags from a lack of sleep. then again, i have those traits and i'm not necessarily a 'successful' law student. depends on what you mean by success.

    Law Courses' credit transfer

This link will give you a rough idea about what can be transferred. I used it when I was transferring from UTS to UNSW, so it will be a more educated guess about what you can transfer from UTS to USYD...

    law w/part-time job

I would say concentrate on developing as many skills as possible at this stage - employers would appreciate you to be as well rounded as possible. I'm still bumming at my retail monkey job in 4th year. Then again, if you can balance work and uni and life, a legal job will be excellent at this...

Starting law - How to get ahead

yeah, surfing the net after waking up from a fever at 4am probably wasnt the best in actually reading a question ( ie the topic of the thread) properly. i just read the first question, "what's the best way to start preparation for 1st year law?" my point is that reading ahead isn't the best...

    Buses to and from UNSW

No you would make the 9.00 lectures. I reckon the bus trip only takes 15 minutes. But I remember that I used to get to central a bit past 8.30 (like 8.40) and still scrape into class on time. Some mornings are better than others. For some reason, Session 1 last year had a huge queue on Tuesday...

    facilities

You have to sign up for a wireless account by going to the IT services desk which is on Lvl 2 in the main library (the level that you walk in from). The link is here. Mind you, the wireless services isn't that great in the Law Building for some reason. Your best bet would be the library and...

Starting law - How to get ahead

I would relax and enjoy the rest of your holidays. Stressing about uni starting might make you feel burnt out, especially since you've only just finished the HSC. Have a flick through the introductory texts, but I would focus more on getting settled into the uni life for your first few weeks -...

    Law degree workload

so how do credits look then, to an interviewer? Say if you started off with credits and then went up to a distinction average?

    Law degree workload

The workload of law isn't that bad, but it depends on what grades you're aiming for, and whether you're aiming for just a pass or HD/Ds. In a way, you do tend to have (especially from 2nd year onwards) a largely law based social-life in that you see your law friends more than your non-law...
