    Higher Physics 1B

Yeah PV makes us take higher level physics both sessions. It takes work, and be prepared for marks to be low, except labs, labs are easy. That said, i think most people ended up passing both, with lab marks sort of carrying us through. It is so different to highschool physics. Its basically lots...

B Engineering (Renewable Energy, Solar Energy, Photovoltaics)

The only chemistry we do is a 3 unit subject about chemical processes for RE systems, so its really specific. Its definately an engineering degree, not at all like an advanced science degree. In the renewable degree you learn a lot of stuff, wind, solar architecture, biomass, stuff on...

Butterfly effect.... In all seriousness though Solar cells do take energy to build, but so does an oil refinery and a nuclear power plant. Solar cells are silicon based and silicon is just slightly abundant on earth... AND the 50% of fossil fuels we have left on earth includes the stuff...

Do you know that at the moment the companies sell solar cells with a 25year guarentee? And they have only been making them for that long, which means the ones they made 25 years ago are still in perfect working condition. In another 5 years they will be sold with 30 years warantees and the same...
