No. The original poster is talking about the preliminary round of offers, which are released on the 4th - some courses release offers then. The vast majority of offers [to non-school leavers and school leavers] are made on the 17th in the MAIN round of offers. Look at the UAC website to find out...
You can still get one at the end of 1st Year - one of my friends is studying at UTS and has just finished her 1st year full-time and is now going part-time study full-time work at PWC [definitely one of the "Big 4"] for the next two years. Plus - this way you get to be a uni student for the...
I have an interview [by phone] on Thursday this week. Hopefully should all go okay - but I wish they were offering places as they went like Women's College at Sydney is! [I had a phone interview with their Dean a few weeks ago and they offered me a spot after 15 minutes, which certainly makes it...
Thanks for the info!
I had assumed that I could do Arts (Advanced) - one of my friends is doing Science (Adv)/Law but maybe that's just a Science thing?? Oh well, it's not really a problem.
Hmm....I'm really tempted by Arts right now....and the idea of majoring in History - as the History...
Hi people,
I completed my HSC in 2005 but have currently deferred uni for a year while I'm o a gap year in England.
The course I deferred was International Studies/Law at UNSW - which is a six year course requiring me to go on a year of exchange, which I've decided I don't want to do...
SAM, with my final HSC marks, predicted me at 99.7 - which is exactly what I got :) so it was 100% accurate for me.
Another one of my friends was predicted at 99.8 - which turned out to be her UAI - whereas another friend was predicted at 99.6 by SAM but then got 98.9...so its accuracy can...
I've already deferred uni this year, for a number of reasons.
1) I'm only 17, and I won't turn 18 until October. So rather than start uni underage, I figure that I have that spare year that a lot of my friends [who are 18 already and turn 19 this year] don't have.
2) The HSC nearly killed...
I was accelerated when I was about 5 [I skipped Year 1] and so I turned 17 on the third day of my HSC after accelerating HSC Chemistry at the age of just 16 [while in Year 11].
So that I'm not an exceptionally young uni student [I'll turn 18 this October] I'm doing a GAP year in England this...
Yeah, it's definitely not just for public school students, several girls from my school [Abbotsleigh] have received it in recent years. The criteria seems to be varying and a bit weird...and the Department doesn't seem to want to tell us what it is...
I just got a place doing Combined Law [with either Arts or International Studies] but I'll be deferring it as I'm in the UK for a year. So I'll be at UNSW in 2007 :)
I had a friend who did the 2U bridging course at Sydney Uni last year - the day course, which is 2 weeks long - and he said that they cut out the stuff you'll never need to know at uni, and focus on the important stuff. He's a below-average Maths student, but had no problems with the bridging...
Hey, I slightly disagree with you saying that people who overstate their UAI won't make it into med...Out of the 30 or so Abbotsleigh girls who applied for UNSW Med, 6 got first-round interviews. However, only 3 [50%] of those girls actually got 99+ UAIs - the other three all got 98+, however...
