    I got my half-yearly ranks and I'm coming at least in the top half of my cohort for most of my subjects. will my atar be affected that much...? school rank is 160-200 but I feel I have a weaker cohort this year.

    hey guys! I was wondering what kind of ranks and marks would be required to achieve a 90+ atar (96 ideally). I go to a school that ranks 160-200 and these are my subjects:
    biology
    chemistry
    economics
    english advanced
    maths 2U
    maths 3U
    A

    Would be best for you to use an ATAR calculator! But generally speaking for a 96:

    Bio: low B6
    Chem: high B5
    Eco: high B5
    Eng Adv: low B6
    Maths 2U: low B6
    Maths 3U: low B6

    You're looking at a minimum of low band 6s or high band 5s for most of your subjects. For a 90 ATAR, you're looking at mid to high band 5s for all your subjects. Ranks and marks are hard to say but check your school's performance (how many B6s per year in a certain subject, which will then determine around which rank you should be aiming for). HSC ninja + honour roll is good for this!
