    MC Q14 and Q20

I am not sure why you quoted my quantum statement Again. Please read it, I used it to bring up the issue of MEASURE, which is the centre of the matter. I will say it again, this is not a quantum event, I made very clear in the first post. In case people are still wondering, "collapse of wave...

    MC Q14 and Q20

Once again you didn't read my post carefully, by no means I am suggesting there is a collapse of wave function here, I am merely alluding to the significance of "measure". The act of measuring changes everything. And, putting a voltmeter DOES complete the circuit, full stop.

    MC Q14 and Q20

If you haven't come across the concept of "collapse of a wave function"(beyond HSC), you may have trouble understanding the word "measure" - which leads to a closed circuit, hence induced emf, not Eddy current. Of course if you don't "measure", you only get Eddy current. Conclusion: ill...

    MC Q14 and Q20

Study some real physics and you will know what I mean.

    MC Q14 and Q20

To khorne: read my post CAREFULLY, we are talking PHYSICS here, how much physics do you know? You are not even wrong!

    MC Q14 and Q20

Question 14 is badly worded and drawn. Question 20 is badly worded. The word "measure" makes or breaks things in the world of quandum physics, it actually leads to the collapse of the wave function! The word has a profound meaning in question 14 as well - it implies a closed circuit is formed...

    Multiple Choice

Two of the multiple choice questions are problematic! Question 14. The split ring is drawn too thick if Eddy current is not to be considered, if (D) is the intended answer. Another big problem is The word "measured" - this implies a close circuit must exit!!! Otherwise how can you "measure"...

Is Physics harder than Ext 2 Maths?

In NSW HSC, it's only as hard as general maths. If you want to know how Physics should be done, the mechanics topic in Maths ExII points to the right direction, as some earlier posts pointed out. Our HSC physics can only be classified as year 10 science at best, by world standards - i quite...

    People Going For Medicine

Well said. In the football pitch and crick oval near my house, I see whites and/or Indian kids play footy and/or cricket, most of them are “hopeless”, yet their parents ferry them there week in week out, base on the original poster's logic, I should ask them not to waste their time, let the...

    Worst topic?

I would call the current HSC physics syllabus Year 10 Science, and the current School Certificate science primary school science. I don’t understand the rationale behind the dumb-down of physics post 1999. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

    why does e=mc^2?

No that was years ago. I was kind of forced to tutor physics and mx1&2 recently by a group of friends, their kids needed some extra push and guidance. I am trying to gauge the level here at BOS. Your reply made me realise I got my profile wrong. Will attempt to correct it.<?xml:namespace prefix...

    why does e=mc^2?

Certain branches are based entirely on postulates. The theory of Relativity is one of them, Quantum Physics is another. Unfortunately more often than not, we can only ask how, but not why. Only geniuses like Einstein, Pauli, Schrodinger etc can come up with those “weird” assumptions which are...

    Was that a Maths exam?

How come no one posted the paper yet? IMHO, we should have 3 unit physics, real physics, and the current 2 unit should be renamed "senior science" or something like that.

    Was that a Maths exam?

That's very enlightening mate, how much do you know about physics? Try doing physics, high school or uni, outside NSW, you will know the answer to your own question. From year 2000 - 2008, the so called physics in NSW was merely middle school science, it was not doing justice to the name...

    Was that a Maths exam?

I haven't seen the paper yet, but judging by the reaction here, HSC Physics is heading the right direction. The last 8 years was laughable, we are the only country with only 20% calculation in high school physics in the world.
