If you can afford to go overseas then i would say you should do it - overseas experience is quite valuable with employers, but then again you could probably just enrol in a normal commerce degree and do one semester overseas if your not interested in giving up commerce courses for the...
if you are really keen to do combined law and you don't get offered the course at sydney maybe you should consider applying for combined law at newcastle?

no because they would expect the competition to be high and besides, if your marks are good then you should do well in the HSC and your estimated UAI should be good. They would have a pretty good idea of what to expect from certain institutions by now.

I would say your school marks are usually a good indicator of how well your gonna do in the HSC although it isnt always the case.

They take the best combo of your UAI and university marks to recalculate your UAI but im pretty sure they cant revise it below the original UAI.
As for gaining credit for courses already completed i dont know and will have to find that out for myself soon :)
