Most kinds of lawyers charge clients according to time. So you might need to be more specific than, "crazy lawyers who charge heaps for very little". This might help you out with the difference between solicitors and barristers

Heck no, it isn't. I'd give that honour to medicine or engineering. There's money in law. It just depends on how hard you're willing to work for it.

I do. You might be able to make a lot of money in law once you get to the top, but that's not guaranteed and it takes a lot of years of hard work and effort to get there.

I think the question was, will the OP be at a disadvantage in a law degree down the track. Doing a subject because you like it or because it will get you a good mark applies to any of them.

No. AFAIK it's 16 hours per week of actual classes (2 hours x 2 for each of your 4 classes), and a lot more on top of that of study and assessment. The workload is so intense, many JDs I know have difficulty holding down part time jobs on the side.

I lolled I didn't do legal studies and hey, look, I'm in my fourth year at Melbourne and doing fine. From what I've seen of legal studies stuff, at least in Victoria, it's the kind of information they teach you as background knowledge in the first few weeks. A couple of non-assessable lectures...

AFAIK if you want to do much more than administrative work in the courts, you're going to need a law degree. Associates tend to be recent law graduates or junior lawyers. Idk about tipstaffs but I'd imagine the same.
