Hello,
Im a y11 student starting hsc next term. I go to a school ranked around 150 (give or take 10). My goal is to get a 99+ atar next year. What rankings should i be aiming for my subjects.

Ill be doing 4u math, chem, phys, english adv and pdhpe next year.

This question relies on too many variables. It is impossible to say. I dont really see how saying "aim for rank 3 in English" will drive you to do any better. Just do your best!

Aim for the top (or as well as you can). If you're ~top 3-5 (depending on cohort size) in everything and you'll have quite a good shot at getting a 99+. As canteen has said above^^, don't set arbitrary goals like "aim for 3rd in English" because there is always extra room for improving. Even if you're first, don't get complacent, and aim for full marks!

agreed with everyone above ^ aim to be top (bc ur school won't carry you) but dont beat yourself up if you dont. your school rank doesnt define your capabilities and if you believe you can you can :)

In a school outside of top 100 to get a 99 ATAR you commonly have to be first in most of your subjects, or close to the top. The reason I say that is because that is the kind of ATAR that the DUX (top person) in the school would usually get in these schools.
