    class participation-do they actually care?

In one of my classes a loud mouth who made no insightful contribution but merely answered "what were the facts of the case?" questions got the highest mark for class participation. Really silly.

LAW at UTS or MACQ???????? HELP

Unless you generally hate studying law, I don't see how the extra units could not be enjoyable. I'm graduating and there are still so many units I wish I could study.

    Disadvantaged?

If you have lots of friends (and relatives that you like) in Sydney you may want to consider staying on and perhaps just living apart from the parents because at least you'll have an established support group. You'll have help if you get into trouble, you know the place and the system etc.

    clerkship coaching SCAM

do you mean that these people are just charging to give advice you could get anywhere? or just this particular person? i'm confused because i saw a clerkship coaching ad in WA by a person claims she has worked in the grad recruitment department in a firm etc.

    Law studies

Well I'm glad you're enjoying law school and like the people at law school. I certainly wish I could trade places with you and not have to experience what I wrote above. Hell how would you feel if people hid books and ripped pages out of them to prevent other people from getting to them? Or if...

    Law studies

If you love people and naturally trust and have faith in everyone you meet, don't do it. You'll meet selfish greedy backstabbing monsters that will stomp on you and anyone else that gets in their way in the blink of an eye. Do something else and stay the way you are.

    Sample Law Questions - Contract

Interesting approach. We're still doing the traditional problem or essay type questions at UWA... and I'd prefer the realistic approach at Murdoch. Anyhow, you could try looking at past year papers and HD, D, C, P answers because it sounds like the way you'd answer the problem question might...

Anyone here went to College of Law?

Alrighty, thanks for your advice hfis :) Some of my friends look at me with disgust when I say I want to do CoL and not articles. Glad to know someone who doesn't think that way!

Anyone here went to College of Law?

Thanks for your reply hfis! Yow UOW's course sounds tough. Why made you choose it over CoL or any other PLT program like ANU's as well? Yeah CoL seems more impersonal, especially since they allow people to complete most of the course, save 2 weeks (I think) online. I quite like the...

Anyone here went to College of Law?

If you did, can you share your experience? I'm considering attending the College of Law then going to another country as a foreign lawyer.

    difference between "applied" and "followed"

Applied = principles of law enunciated in precedent are applied to new facts Approved = principles of law enunciated in precedent are held to be good law Followed = the instant case is regarded to have relevantly similar facts to the precedent, so that precedent is applied

Got into law and have a few questions

Hi Jess, I'm a UWA grad law student. No worries about Medicine and the Law only being offered at UWA... you can apply to do it cross-institutionally. It's usually offered 2nd semester every year and might be offered every summer beginning from this summer. Feel free to post again/PM me if you...

Thanks very much Ari and Rogue! I have my uni's career guide (and it actually costs money (!)) but has little inside.

Descriptions of legal practice areas, day in the life of etc

Does anyone know where we can find descriptions of various legal practice areas like M&A and Banking, and lawyers talking about the sort of work they do in those areas?

international student and law - any correlation????

having a good command of english certainly helps with grades, but i wouldn't turn it into a pass/fail matter. what mac daddy said about the problem solving bit is right... there's no point in a student having brilliant english if they are unable to think logically and spot issues and know how to...

as bad as law school leeches - bum or bossy/domineering groupwork partners

474645 you're one heck of a tolerant person. i'm just about to explode because that particular presentation is worth only 25% while on the same day i have a 60% assignment due, and the group member knows it. plus more silliness from that person which i have not mentioned here. ugh. UGH. mac, i...

as bad as law school leeches - bum or bossy/domineering groupwork partners

we're having lots of group presentations this semester and while there are no bums in any of my groups, i've had it with bossy/domineering people who insist on rehearsing a 20-minute presentation for 2-3 hours, who insist for silly reasons on business suits for that presentation, who flood...
