Drop engineering and just do commerce.

This is actually true. I know plenty of comm/law kids that did big 4 accounting internships in their 2nd/3rd year of a 5 year degree and used that experience to land a job at BBIBs, MCs and big 6 law. We comm/law kids are cast in a bad light when applying for big 4 accounting jobs haha. I'm in...

    Maximising Scholarship Chances

As mentioned above it's all about differentiating yourself from someone else. In addition to this you need a strong written application. When the question asks for leadership or what not, make sure to use the STAR method - this isn't confined to just interviewing. Make your answers compelling...

    To future accountants.

Yep the use of advanced data analytics has automated the accounting industry, notably with tax compliance and book keeping. This doesn't mean that you won't have a job in accounting in the future, the nature of accounting at the professional services firm will change from compliance to...

    Daredevil (TV Show)

I loved the series. No other Marvel/DC tv show has character developed their villain like in DareDevil. Kinda sympathised with Wilson Frisk - him and Matt have the same ends but just different means of achieving it.

    EY Game Changers Club

When I did it - it consisted of 3 nights of workshops/networking with HR, grad and partners. It's a great opportunity to get yourself known to HR and partners whom will ultimately be hiring you. Also, the program really helps you develop a more global outlook and really understanding the global...

    Professional development for first years

You should be able get into the KPMG foundations program, Deloitte development program, EY game changers + career compass and PwC preview program. I've been a part of a few of them and they are definitely worthwhile. If you impress them enough they send you straight into an ac/partner interview...

USYD combined law atar is lowered...

Great initiative by USYD. The cut-off for combined law at USYD and UNSW are ridiculous. They should set a threshold ATAR cut-off and implement other forms of testing like LSAT.

PLEASE HELP! Avenue to LAW: What would you do?

Well, if you get into Macq then there's really no point transferring. I assume it would easier (WAM/GPA-wise) and less costly to transfer internally if you want to do law at UNSW.
