The Best Things About The HSC????

The thing is people's mindsets change between year 10 and year 12 I think. At the moment I don't really do anything for languages but I don't need to, though I've generally done more work over the 2 years than I did work in year 10 and before that. The only subject that I intensely study for is...

Repeat the HSC: Yay or 'Nay'

errrgh, i obviously have done French. And Extension. Not sure why you find it boring and tedious. God forbid you learn about another culture.

What is the hardest HSC subject?

Not really. Native speakers don't always do better than the Australian kids. The ones at my school are coming last in the year 12 classes, though I think it's because the classes are tiny (4 to 5 people) and the only people who bother to keep up to extension are dedicated enough to get high...

What is the hardest HSC subject?

I think a lot of people find English hard.

    Hi - thesis evaluation

You're throwing around the right sorts of words, but it sounds clumsy. "Only through overcoming such barriers can society become a character of value, self-worth and purpose." how can society become a character?? A thesis is supposed to be one sentence long. Then you introduce the texts...

This is how badly I am at English...

use your belonging RT? Honestly there's no trick to this. I recycled my texts from belonging and they worked fine. The teacher even made a point in the trials that common texts like To Kill a Mockingbird were marked down because she said that such well-known texts have to be analysed...

    Playing games before the HSC?

What games? I haven't really done any study yet.

    Recording yourself

I've 'heard' that this doesn't actually work. I read it somewhere but I can't remember. It was like in the 'common myths regarding memorisation' part of a presentation I think. Maybe it was from Prue Salt?? It sounds bogus to me. Especially since most people probably got the idea off the Simpsons.

    Tans: Yes or no?

What's with all the idiots who think 'natural' is better? This is maybe so for food but not tans. I don't understand why there's such a stigma surrounding fake tans. How is it different to wearing make-up? It doesn't always look orange (people who claim this obviously have never tried many...

Repeat the HSC: Yay or 'Nay'

hi! If I were you I would do as many languages as I could. They are fun and the more you do the easier they get (although continuers courses are more fun than extension courses as the literature can take your focus off the actual language learning.) Do whatever your school offers and then Open...

    Subject Reviews (with PDF compilation)

Re: Subject Reviews (PDF updated 17/01/09) this thread is really helpful and useful, but the link in the first post is dead. Can someone remedy this or has the thread-starter long-since graduated university and abandoned this site?

Can anyone doing (any) language at Usyd give me some feedback on their course? Also, are the beginners courses taught in english or in the language itself? (junior 1). Same Question for Junior 2, in english or the lang? Thanks:tree:
