Caught out on Facebook chucking a sickie.

Wtf is this 'good-naturedly' shit? His reply when caught out was "LMAO epic fail." Oh wait. He works at a call centre.

    Favourite airline?

On the return leg, I flew Fiji to Aus on United Airlines and scored a free upgrade to Business. Suprisingly to me, it wasn't that great. Never again with United. Same food and crap service from women that are way too old to be flight attendants. I live and learn.

    Cricket Season 2007/2008

Maybe you might want to use someone else to compare with Watson, champ. It's been in the news everywhere that Lee has had personal issues. He's in the team, yeah, but he's certainly not the spear-head of the attack, and never would have been thought to be after what happened with the wife...

    2008 Presidential Election - Obama v McCain

"My frenz...we've got them right where we want them!!!" Poor John. If only they had more substance going for them than attacks on Obama, and folksy talk. It's obvious that Obama isn't retaliating with the attacks, and is using them instead to clarify his positions. Although McCain doing...

    Little help?

Assumed doesn't mean you can't do a course. It simply means that they wont teach you the material in detail, as they assume you have already covered it. So, if you want to still do IT at UTS/UoW, then go for it. If you get accepted into that particular course at UTS/UoW and find yourself...

    general pants & co interviews

My guess is because the company is very focused on targets, and they want to employ people that actually know how to sell something. Popular amongst teens, but a lot of them don't know how to close sales and cross sell.

    sharemarket discussion thread

Just got back from a Conference in Fiji and had a guy from AllianceBernstein talk on the direction of the economy and stock markets, both global and aus. He put a nice spin on things as he's a great presenter, although the fundamentals in the data are pretty worrying. If anyone wants the...

    Newcastle Interview?

I'm interested to know, what makes UNSW or USW 'equal if not better in terms of teaching quality"?

    Newcastle Interview?

Probably because they want the higher quality cohort of med students at Newcastle.

That's true to an extent. Capital losses can offset capital gains, but not income. So if you make a loss of $70,000 on your portfolio, you don't pay tax on up to $70,000 in capital gains that you might make later. But this is only for your portfolio and doesn't apply to income you earn. EDIT...

Anyone that is trading right now to for income through speculating on price rises, is absolutely nuts. At least in managed funds, you can still keep direct shares within the fund, and diversify into cash some more until the panic passes. :/

    Japanese Hotels don't want foreigners

Unless things have dramatically changed since I was there last year, all the decent places to stay are very accepting of foreigners. Why wouldn't they be? We inject their economy with money. Over the 5 cities I visited, I didn't come across any hotel owners that were rude or unaccepting. Quite...

Bold prediction here, but the market will need to fall by 50% before it starts getting better. There's too much panic. General Motors is fucked, seriously. Looking at the fundamentals, it's crazy! We have highly profitable banks here, paying good dividends, and with good prospects with our...

My exam is longer than yours.

I have an exam longer than that, man. It goes for 5 days, and it's in Fiji. It starts on Sunday and finishes on Friday. It's on fishing and snorkelling under the cover of 'work conference'. That is all. :D

As above, yeah good luck with that. The currency markets are freaking volatile. I could guess mid next year the dollar might be back to around 80-85USD, but that's based on a guess that sounds good to me. :) Just keep saving and do it the year after. More money for the stripperz.
