    I was using AVG free, but there was something it couldn't get rid of, so now I'm using Avast! Seems quite good, like the automatic updates, but the interface is pretty ordinary imo.

    I don't know anything about the airport express, but if its like normal routers, to get into the settings, go to the PC connected to the router, and open a web browser and type 192.168.0.1 This should open the routers setup interface. Now have a look around for something like wireless settings...

    What type of wifi is supported by your phone, 802.11a/b/g/n? I'd say most likely b or g. Anyway check what mode your router is set to, if say its set to g only, and your phone only supports b, then it wont connect.

    you know you could get better performance out of that machine by adding in more RAM, its a cheap and easy upgrade you can do yourself. My desktop is an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (similar to yours)and i upgraded from 1GB to 2GB RAM and it runs much better now

    since i installed windows 7, ff3 has crashed a few times whereas it never seemed to in XP/vista. Yeah it does seem a little laggy eh.

    Probably best bet is to go for ADSL2+. I use TPG and its quite fast, plans are good value too. I'd stay away from Telstra, they're a bloody rip-off. Also heard Exetel is good

    Yeah I know a guy trying to do that this year. Just pick subjects like STAT170, ECON110, ACST101 that you would do in a comm degree and study your arse off. I'd say min of credit in everything (GPA of 3) might be sufficient, but it could be higher

    yeah true, it was a d-link pci wifi adapter for my desktop machine Since then, we got an ethernet port installed in my room so im using wired networking now. Might install Ubuntu again in the future, but atm I'm finding Windows 7 to be awesomely good

    laptop vs. writing notes

    Probably better writing them out, makes it easier to write equations, draw diagrams, symbols and all that. Plus its good practise for HSC anyway. E.g you'll need to write pages and pages of English essays in the English exam and otehrs too (esp if you're doing more humanities than maths/science)
