When do I use absolute values when I'm doing these questions. EG: Find the area bounded by the curve y=9-x and the line y=5. I think my teacher roughly mentioned it, but I've forgotten already, is there any golden rule? Or anything to know.

I'm not sure what to do when you're not given the boundaries. I tried letting x = 0, to give the y intercepts, and I got y=3 and y=1 for them. End answer was wrong. Correct answer: 10/2/3 units.
