    polynomials question

Hehe, true. I acknowledged this in my post. But it is clearly the better solution rather than tediously equating all coefficients and considering simultaneous equations, etc., as some of the posts here. So more properly: We want: (ax + b)^2 - x ≡ { (x - 2)^2 - x }c for some integer...

    polynomials question

I interpreted exactly divisible (even though I made no mention of 'exactly' in my post - I should have - but it is a small omission) in the same sense we could say that 6 is exactly divisible by 2 and 3: only 1 is left when when dividing by both. But in any case it is probably the wrong...

    polynomials question

Not only is it equal to (x - 1)(x - 4) for some x, it is in fact identical to it. This is in fact quite an elementary result. It's what being [edit: exactly divisible] divisible by (x - 1) and (x - 4) means! Knowing this the problem becomes very trivial. Expand (x - 1)(x - 4) quickly by using...

What a transcript looks like (Pics)

Hey I just noticed that it says on the UNSW transcript that it's printed on polymer - the same stuff money's printed on! Much more modern, too, USyd's transcripts quite visibly come from some DOS-like/old system. Hell it's so primitive, the system does not even group subjects originating from...

What a transcript looks like (Pics)

The University of Sydney transcripts don't even have course codes (e.g. ECON1001, etc.). How is somebody viewing one meant to know if a unit is a first year subject, a second year subject, etc.? (Since you may do first year subjects in second year, etc.) It would also help to group subjects...

    I failed ACCT1001 - now what happens

Which faculty administers your degree? Unless I have misunderstood, if you are enrolled in a degree with the Faculty of Economics and Business you may not overload (by the definition I have in my above post) without permission... this I read/implied from here...

    I failed ACCT1001 - now what happens

Do they let you overload a failed subject without permission? I know they don't let you overload ordinarily without permission, and not at all in first year... of course, this is if we consider 'overloading' as meaning adding another full 6cp subject, because as far as I know most degrees allow...
