Ok, so for part A its asking for total cost of the yacht. We can work this out by using the table provided. We should first work out how much just directly we are borrowing to purchase this yacht. The table states its $47 500, which we will then use to subtract the deposit and the trade in...

So its asking you the simple interest rate per annum so we know that the formula I=PRN should be used, which you should be familiar with. We know that they must pay $92 per week for five years, which totals to $23920. This amount ($23920) minused from the principal (shown below) is the total...

Because the question explicitly asked you to find the area of the playground which "consists of a part of a circle, and a rectangle" (taken directly from the question). I think this clearly suggests that you were not meant to include the triangle. Further to this, the dotted lines around the...

If you look at the wording of the question it states "a school playground consists of a part of a circle, and a rectangle." Hence, the area of the playground does not include the triangle. This is how I interpreted it at least. It will be interesting to see if the triangle was meant to be...

Stressed because I wont be able to remember everything!!!

Honestly their is no need to memorise essays. I don't know why people do so. Its not something that you would do for other subjects so why would you do it for english? You don't know what the question will ask on the day so how can you have a memorised response? If there is something I have...

This basically summarises general maths. Ambiguously worded questions. Your correct in your assumption of "part thereof". It does mean in 'blocks' - e.g. 34 seconds is 2 parts (or 'blocks') thereof. So D is correct if you have worked out the question in 'blocks'.

I don't think it was an easy test. The last two years tests (especially 2015 paper) were much easier imo. Their were a lot more mathematically orientated questions this year, which I think benefited those who have an intuitive mind, which is why I think some people found it easier, but I'm sure...

Agreed, it is quite ambiguous. For example, I'm quite sure for instance that beyond the general maths syllabus 1 Megabyte = 1000 Kilobytes, however the general maths convention is that 1 Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes.

Your correct in saying 1 byte = 8 bit. However, 3072 Megabytes must first be converted to bits, so that then we can find the amount of Megabits. So, 3072 MB = 3072 megabyte = 3072*8 mb (megabit), is not true. The correct working is: 3072 MB (Megabytes) * 1024 *1024 * 8 = 2.576980378x10^10 b...

I thought so as well. My teacher assured me that you would never have to calculate the correlation coefficient by calculator as it would have to be given to you, but I learnt how to do it just in case. I'm glad I did.

This is the answer for part I. From memory the answer from part II was around 190, I think that is what they are referring to.

Yes. Because the equation is M = A(1.1)^x, which is just this M = A(1+10%)^x. So, the growth rate is 10%.

Concerning the question where they asked you to verify that the correlation coefficient to three decimal places: was this in the parameters of the syllabus? My teacher taught us that it wasn't in the scope of syllabus for us to work it out - they said that questions would always have to give you...

But, if their was 185 silver coins and 20 gold coins that would mean that their was a 20/205 chance of selecting the gold coin which makes the probability of selecting a gold coin 4/41, where the probability of selecting a gold from the previous answer was 4/37. So, their must have been 185...
