    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

I've got to agree. Many things I could have done better today, I'm not too sure on some of these either, so don't worry about it. Good job all, sure we've all done the best we can.

As in mv^2/r=N and as v decreases N decreases?

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

Magnitude shouldn't be constant? Ball slows down as it moves up so normal force changes?

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

The motion of the charges is important, after 1/4 rotation it is perpendicular to field

If you end up getting 94-95, I think that will be enough most likely.

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

At the start, the charges in PQ are moving horizontally in the same direction as the magnetic field, therefore no magnetic force is generated. After 1/4 rotation they moved vertically perpendicular to field. So I picked A?

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

Yeah I mentioned one boson, quarks and leptons in decent detail. That could be enough but honestly it's hard to know - I agree I should have written more, but in the exam everything is pressed for time

Probably 1. No marks lost if you are very lucky - marking schemes vary and e.g could require "at least two applications" or something like that, or it could require everything

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

If you talked about quarks and leptons, that would be sufficient for full marks I'd imagine. Edit: plus the things you mentioned of course

Lots of boson, probably don't need them all. But I'd guess at least 1 of them to get full marks (+ quark, lepton)

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

I think it would, by how much depends on the mark scheme however

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

Exactly! Half of them are saying the exam was easier than last year! Totally honestly I believe there is no way that's true (I would guess that it is actually substantially harder, but even if not, still at least harder).

Yes, but the key word was applied- there was no current applied, only induced. Applied implies an electrical contact. Although usually the motor does not contain carbon brushes, it could easily e.g to contact the electromagnet. But if you apply a current to the rotor, it is no longer an...

    HSC Physics Predictions / Thoughts

Yeah you don't apply the current to the rotor. It's induced. - carbon brushes can be fitted anywhere e.g electrical contact but current is never supplied directly to rotor

Yes!!!! I did D, was so scared

HSC Chemistry SOLUTIONS / Thoughts / Predictions

Engi type stuff :) But I'm indecisive, so that might change.
