if u have other factors they're looking for, they'll lower the UAI you need a little. a rural indigenous person from rural qld got in with 94 or something... i think they lower the interstate cutoffs if the person is rural and/or indigenous as well.

Newcastle's a great course, they were the first to implement PBL and self-directed learning in undergrad med schools- now they're all doing it :) Sydneysiders are just Sydney-centric so you might not have heard much about other NSW unis yet :P

you can also do at least 1 yr of uni and apply to undergraduate med schools as a "non-standard applicant". they use your GPA. (apart from UNSW which uses your UAI for 50% of the academic rank, and UTas which uses your UAI if you've done less than 1.5 years of uni)
