    accounting/finance salaries

Seremify mate from alot of your previous messages you seem like you have alot of talent. I am dumbfounded tho by your decision to go into accounting, but even more so to take on a cadetship with a big 4 firm. Maybe you are Asian and your parents recommend that you take a role with good job...

seremify: so do you mean when you sister got sent overseas for her firm, she STILL pays Australian taxes or she pays the overseas working tax? And also Capitalist I still fail to see your point. Regardless of the progressive tax rate, if you are in the same income bracket (and I'm sure...

http://www.michaelpage.com.au/pdfstore?src=2005_Finance_Salary_Survey.pdf I think this is much less confusing and alot more accurate then Hays (hehe its first on google). Especially the Investment Banking salaries. Note the point on BONUSes not being included and that Graduates typically...

    Professional Recognition (Finance)

I don't know all there is about professional recognition in the finance industry, but I'm pretty sure CFA is the equivalent to finance majors as CPA/CA is to Accounting. Membership/Associate of SIA (or the new merged institute) is generally seen by employers as scrapy.. its more of a basics...

    FinSoc

Seraphim who are you and do u go to UNSW? Yeah, finsoc was just a society created to boost a few grads CVs. My tutor was one of the founders and he told me that. lol

    UTS COOP Accounting Program

No offence Seremify but please tell me you accepted a cadetship at a big 4 accounting firm or one of the more prestigious investment houses (don';t think they do 'cadetships' per se) instead of B.ACC?
  15. M

    UTS vs. UNSW

b.acc is much better then any cadetship. Same goes for any other co-op. A cadetship is just a full time bottom level role (yes the underlings do the most work.. didn't u know?) with very little pay. Most cadets know and complain they don't get paid enough. You don't need to work 3 years...

    FINS2624 & FINS3616

If you are looking to do the 2 core fins subjects.. would doing applied corporate finance as well be a bad idea? im tossing up between that and acct2a management accounting.. which i dont really want to do but 2b is not offered in sem1.

    Commerce- Opinions/Info

I'm currently doing my internship at a well known investment bank in equities research (ie.stockbroking). I think what you are refering to in 'stockbroking' is more the analyst/research part of it ie. equities research and not equities sales. Sales don't need to develop financial models, so...

    UTS vs. UNSW

B.Acc @ UTS is better then the straight commerce degree at UNSW. But B.Acc is the degree for UTS Accounting co op which is an entirely different (not the course, but what u talk abt in "industry experience") to Bachelor of business @ UTS. All the employers and firms (ESP. DEUTCHE BANK) are...

    UTS COOP Accounting Program

UTS Accounting Co-op is the best thing you can do if you want a career in accounting. I've met many, many individuals in high positions within many large corporate firms who are alumni of the UTS B.Acc program or know about it/approve it. You'd be surprised. That is the main reason why...
