    Classes of one student

I apologise if this has been asked before. Do classes with only one student simply allocate a #1 rank to that student, irrespective of what marks they achieve in their assessments (assuming they make serious attempts)? If so, does this student then receive his/her own HSC mark as the...

    Australian Students Prize

Letter arrived today, though apparently recipients aren't supposed to talk to the media (not that there's really any reason to talk to the media) until your local MP gets a chance to announce it and bignote himself later in the year. Anyone else get one?

    Getting dragged down

Someone I know was ranked (equal) first in economics at her school. Her exam mark was 96, but her assessment mark was only 94. How could this happen? I thought that if you were ranked first, you would be guaranteed to get the highest exam mark, which in this case would have been (at least) 96.

    Prizes

Can someone provide details about any prizes that are awarded based on the HSC? Specifically, the Premier's Award (when are you informed? where is the ceremony? is the Premier actually there? what do you actually get? does English have to count in the ten units above 90?) and the other award...

Division of Marking in Elective Subjects

Does anyone know what protocol is followed for the marking of subjects which have multiple elective options (eg. English with different focuses for Journey, or Ancient History where each class studies only 4 of 48 possible electives)?. Particularly in history, it seems impossible that every...

    UAI and Percentile

Two questions: 1 - How does the Board compare you to your Year 10 cohort? Is this just an estimate of what the Year 10 people would have got, based on SC results or something? Or do they assume that people who left in Year 10 lie along the same distribution of good--> poor results as the Year...

    Removing Norton Internet Security

Argh, my mum forgot the supervisor password for Norton Internet Security 2003. This means I am unable to fiddle with my firewall settings (the firewall is actually locked in the off position, you need to be a supervisor to turn it back on :p ). My router has NAT and SPI so getting hacked is not...

    Modelling

I know there is already a thread on a similar topic to this, but I am a little confused about the concept of modelling reactions. Q29(e) of the 2004 CSSA Trial reads, "Modelling is used in chemistry to represent chemical reactions and explain concepts. Discuss the features of a model you...
