maybe the owner ran out of money to host it?
Or too many complaints from a particular umat prep course got it shut down.

I've been speaking to LUG, the administrator of AMS. It wasn't a money issue, it was the stress of trying to fight off legal threats from Mr Dallas Gibson. I and many others are hoping that even if she is unwilling to continue as administrator, others will take her place and (with her permission of course) the forum may rise again.

So our "Benevolent Dictator" has quit. What will happen now? Lexi, is it likely anyone WILL step up and take over Ausmedstudent?

Dallas Gibson is a cock-sucker. Thinks his all that because his in mensa. I went to one of his courses in my attempt to get into medicine and wasn't useful at all. In fact ausmedstudent was so much more informative. It's tragic to see a great community go down. I will whole-heartedly encourage anyone willing to revive the site.

 yeah, I knew it had something to do with Dallas.

I dont know what the legal threats are for? arent we entitled to an opinion?
I went to his course and thought it was not only SHIT but also a waste of money.

Hm...maybe we should get the media involved :p
ahaha e.g. I would love to see a tutoring place take legal action against bored of studies. :D

actually, wasn't some of the exam papers (can't remember the name... one of those companies who make trial papers... umm starts with N...) actually made BoS take of the exam papers under copyright infringement.

Oh hahaha
you cant remember the name of the company? me too  I dont know if the company starts if N but I'm sure that it ends with P. Either way I think the company had a good and fair reason for making BoS take down their exam papers.

I'm curious what was the reason for legal action that dallas put forward?

bleh, just an observation, its funny how Dallas is being sued for breach of copyright and breach of the Trade Practices by another prep course.

did Dallas change his business name to Icarus College?

coz that's the company also occupying http://www.medical-entrance.com/

if true, it's interesting to see him change to Icarus, because, as the legend goes, Icarus was the boy who flew up high, but, due to his overconfidence, flew too high, the sun melted the wax that held his wings together and self-headshot-deluxe :p.

edit: *bored* so do a little lawboy trick:

i reckon UMAT has lost its point. i reckon they should have a work experience program (say 2-months) for prospective students and those who pass the grade get in.

its too impractical... the health system is crumbling.. and public health isnt able to support work experience kids on top of 1st to 6th students... they can hardly squeeze in 2nd and 3rds ...let alone a couple of yr 12 kids..

other issues include.. if a person enters hospital.. wat is their role if they hav no training or experience at all?
in yr 1 we were given lik 4 month discussion and additional first aid/CPR courses to cope...
legally its also a weird place.. interesting thought tho
