Which subject? Be difficult to get 50 or above as an ATAR for most subjects.

Band 2 is 50 or more out of 100 so is a “pass”.

I'm just curious why dose NESA list band 2 as an pass 50% but it is considered as a failure, its kinda weird do you think ?

50% is relative since it's scaled and not a raw mark. There's also no notion of a fail score in the HSC. It's just a mark that reflects how you performed, and you're not required to repeat a course so the concept of "pass" or "fail" can't really be applied.

Also, the threshold for a "pass" mark varies. In most Australian universities, a P (pass) refers to a mark >50%. But in the US, an F (fail) grade is awarded if you get below 70.
