Wondering

lets give a hypothetical situation

Adolf gets 99.3
can't afford fee pay
and thus miss's out law

but
he goes off and do lets say Bsci

and assuming Bsci is a relative easy course and for 2004 its uai cutoff was only 80

ok

after yr 1

Adolf gets HD averaage, WAM of 86

now
he tries to transfer to law

would he get in?

well my point here is really

if u get a good uai
but just misses out
but goes off and does a totally shit course which is easy
and ace it coz ur just a hardworking smart arse and get lets say a HD average

would u be able to transfer into any course high uai course?
assuming that the demand for lets say law here is as normal

coz if u can transfer
then isn't tat like exploiting the system
as i assume all courses are scaled and weighted the same at unsw when ti comes to transfer calculation

Its not really beating the system - its a common practice.

Can't get something you want? Try transfer into it later.

well this aren't really about transferring
everyone knows transfer is normal

but this is like
u get real high uai, but go off to do one of the lowest uai courses in a bid to get a high mark to allow u to transfer into ur original preference

assuming tat the lower uai course is reasonably easier

Hrmm.. what about choosing a "not that much easier" courses, e.g something that requires high UAI as well..

But I guess since I've only heard of them taking your UAI and WAM only into account, maybe it's all you need. Don't quote me tho :p

if that person wanted to combine commerce with law, that person should do just commerce in first year, rather than science..coz commerce is probably one of the easiest 1st year degree's at UNSW...that person would only need at most a distinction average with a UAI of 99.3 to get into law

the point is...do subjects that relate to what your trying to transfer in, you'll do better than an easy course that u have no motivation to do anything in

and say commerce as opposed to science or something unrelated, you woudlve done most subjects in law, (assuming you are planning to do com/law), and thus u can get credit points on ur degree or something (correct me if im wrong)

Yep, if you've done a subject thats required on another program, you can get credit for subjects you have already done.

if u do comm first year and transfer..you lose like nuffin
because after the two years you end up doing the same subjects than a first year law student, except you do more law subjects second year to catch up....well this is how it seems

btw something off topic...transfer students are too cocky for their own good..especially in class discussion

96/97 should be do-able..if you work hard enough..

its always around a D avg, give or take depending on ur UAI i guess.
