Hey guys,

I am currently in Year 11 but am doing two accelerated subjects:

Society and Culture
Chemistry

I'm very happy with both of these subjects, but I am unsure about my other subjects, which currently are:

Maths Ext 1
English Ext 1
Biology
Physics

I really dislike Physics so far, but I want to know whether it is worth keeping for university pre-reqs and assumed knowledge. I would like to get into the health field, and i'm not too sure if phys is recommended. Should i just keep Physics and just not put too much effort into it? Or maybe just drop physics and use those free periods in putting more effort into other subjects.

Thanks :D

Some schools may offer courses that can be accelerated when you are in junior years- meaning you complete the HSC in year 11 usually

Well, AFAIK HSC Physics is not particularly helpful even for an actual physics degree lol, so that's probably not a great reason to keep Physics.

However, it might be of note that I found the hsc course was waaaay more interesting than the prelim course for physics, so there is that

imo your priorities this year should be society and chem and tbh its probably okay to neglect the other prelim subjects a little bit in order to do well in your actual HSC subjects (I would not recommend neglecting maths doe)

So would you recommend it if, lets say, i don't do physics but one of my considerations and ONLY considerations of future careers be in engineering?

imo 4U maths would be much more helpful than physics in that scenario
I don't think you would be disadvantaged much (if at all) not doing physics
tbh (not first hand experience lol) really your subjects should be less about what uni degree you want to do and more about what will get you into that course
the exception is heavily mathematical degrees which you would actually need to have that maths foundation to not flop i.e. (engo, actuary, adv science (phys, maths, comp))
