ok, i have a problem, my dad bought me a scienfitif calculator from china...it looks like an fx-82 any normal calculator you could use, but the model number is fx-100W and its not approved by the board. now, its not a graphic calculator or anythin, it just looks like a normal scientific calc that everyone uses at school but supposedly it has some internal function that i don't even know and for that sole reason its not apporoved in HSC. what i want to know is, do the supervisors(people who walk around and also let you into the exam hall) in our hsc room, do they actually check your calculator and see if its ok or not? do they actually check your model? i need to know so i can get used another calc right away......thanks

should get a new one to be on the safe side. my school recommends taking in two approved calculators in case one breaks or goes flat etc.

It's illegal to use a non-bored-approved calculator and, trust, the examiners do look at them as they pass: especially Sydney ones. If they see a calulator that's out of the norm, they will shit on your face for it...they get 'teacher-street-rep' for doing so.

If you're worried about your calculator hitting the fun, take another.

This all depends on what course you are studying. If you are studying General Mathematics, it sounds permissible. Just check it with the descriptions on the Board's website.

If you are studying one of the related courses – Mathematics (15240), Mathematics Extension 1 (15250), or Mathematics Extension 2 (15260) – or a Science course, or any of the courses that require a "Board-approved calculator", you can only take in a calculator on that approved list.
As alluded to (I think 'Board-approved', rather than 'bored-approved' should be appropriate; we're not an official site!), you simply cannot take in a calculutor that is not on the approved list.

In other words, you will need to get another calculator.
