On the short story extract.

the main technique the composer utilizes was rhetorical question.

I didn't seem to spot any other if there were any?

well if you're going to be penalized for using red than I will be penalized for using green, only because i see it and when i flip through i quickly check that I've answered all questions. If they penalize I'm screwed but oh well

GREEN?

LMAO

at the front page of the Exam it states.

General Instructions
Write in Black or blue pen.

It will be a small deduction (logically)

Unless you get a uptight strict bitch then hell will break loose.

don't stress; there's no way they'll punish you
the hsc markers, beneath the bureaucracy, are actually just teachers who love (in varying amounts) the whole education gig.
if you've been clever enough in earning marks, they surely shan't hold something so trivial against you.

Little things like that are just so that it's convenient to the markers; allowing a certain uniformity to exist in the papers. They're not going to lower your mark for something like that, in fact far from it. The markers are told to give as many marks as they can, and go to great lengths to make sure every student gets the mark they deserve.
