Do different religions have different tolerance levels? (2 Viewers)

It isn't really controversial to say that basketball players are taller on average than people who don't play basketball, but it seems that if you say that different religions are (on average) worse/more violent/less tolerant than other religions, people don't like it.

Look at something that happened recently in bangladesh:

On April 6, hundreds of thousands of men and boys spread out across the sweltering capital Dhaka to call for, among other things, the hanging of atheists. The mass mobilization of Islamists was spurred by a handful of “atheist” bloggers who are supposedly so offensive to Islam that they should face the hangman’s noose.

“There is no place in this country for atheists,” was one of the friendlier refrains that a supporter of the organizers, Hefazet Islami, a Sunni Muslim outfit from the country’s second-largest city, Chittagong, told me.

The Islamist marchers listed 84 bloggers who they demand be arrested or hanged. There are only about 6 million internet users in the South Asian nation of 160 million. So it’s unlikely that the majority of the crowd assembled had ever read the offending blogs. The rancor directed at atheist bloggers seems to be a cover for political opportunism in the lead-up to next year's countrywide elections.

Questions:
Do you think there'd ever be a rally in Australia or the US or Britain of hundreds of thousands/thousands/hundreds of Christians calling for the deaths of atheist bloggers?

If you find current examples of apostates (people who leave a religion) being killed, or people who make fun of a religion being killed by religious people, how do the religions compare?

Let me phrase it in a way that you should be looking at it: how many educated, middle-class Muslims from Western backgrounds have ever protested for this? It has a fuckload more to do with upbringing, geopolitical chance and culture than it does with purely religion.

Just for the record, plenty of Christians hate atheists. Go look up Dawkins reading his hate mail.

Christian churches have been known to have done similar things to this throughout history. If you find a Muslim and a Christian in a western country with similar backgrounds any changes in their tolerance of others is most likely due to their personality, not their religious persuasion.

Some do. Just like some Christians do. Some atheists do. Some people in pretty much any group on earth do happen to be cunts. But not because of their religion, unless their sacred text states 'be a cunt' or something, just because some people aren't nice people. I don't personally think there's any correlation between religion and the incidence of bastards.
