I got Dux of my school, and our school simply bases it on whoever got the most firsts in their subject, personally i think thats a stupid system, but i wouldnt have gotten dux without it so i cant really complain

so thee person who came first in art, food technology, drama, standard english and persian (cause there is 1 person in the class)

beats the person who comes first in 4u maths, 3u maths, 3u english and physics

cause the first person got 5 firsts and the 2nd got 4??
that would be quiet funny to see at speech night

we kinda had two...well, the first wasnt a dux per se, but rather the person who got the most firsts in the grade...that got presented at the yr 12 grad. i think the scaling and stuff usually got factored in
the true dux was based on uai.

Ours should be that, but last years dux of year 11 was based on how you went overall - as in, if you went fairly well in all of your subjects you were likely to get it.

We have a similar situation at our school...bec one of my friends is the only person in her class (ext history). I'm not sure if that counts though.

i suppose wat needs to be sorted out is what should the Dux be for, the smartest person in a few subject, or somebody who does very well in all their subjects, but only first in one.

At my school the person who dux-ed last year will only be receiving their award and accolades now, at this year's privegiving. It's a stupid system.

Unless they require that you mail your UAI to them..

Our presentation night is in early december, so l don't think we would have gotten our HSC marks back by then.

^^ ours too (which is me!! :) ) so the "dux" is given an award at Presentation Night, but the name that goes on the dux board in the office is the person whose UAI is highest...
