from memory, eds costs alot more i think, and is not nearly as widely used, which is the problem of practically applying superconductors. the key to that dotpt is to discuss the application of sc's in trains and the associated problems/fixes etc

also, EDS is somewhat safer and requires less computer monitoring and adjustment when it travels.
EMS needs more monitoring because the distance between the magnets and the guideway is a short 10 mm.
