Community Service? In the SC? WTF!?!?!?!

I'm doing community service as a part of Duke of Edinburgh. I haven't decided what I'm gonna do though.

If you are asking because you are wondering what you should do then I think I can help a little with that
I did mine at the Red Cross in the city- wouldn't recommend it. Sure I enjoyed going to the city after work, getting lunch with a friend and then doing 2 hours of....nothing. Pretty much they were extremely nice but they were not prepared for volunteers for community service so my friend and I got stuck with jobs such as photocopying, laminating and some other office stuff. Occasionally they asked our opinion on teenage related posters etc. One day we actually got to go to a museum and hand out things on STDs lol. On our last day some people in the office bought us a cake and dips and gave us some maccas vouchers and a Red Cross teddy bear. Overall it was a good experience but I didn't feel like I made such a big difference to the community by photocopying and laminating!
I think the best one at our school was Meals on Wheels or something along those lines. At our school we had Wed arvo off to do the community service but the girls who did Meals on Wheels took them off and then did that on Sundays. They said that it was really good and rewarding.
Many went to childcare centres and said that it was pointless. Some went to nursing homes and hated it. Others went to the Salvation Army and had to clean and sort things.
Originally I wanted to do my community service at the Red Cross' teddy bear factory- they knit and sew toys for children in need. Unfortunately I was running out of time and couldn't organise it. If you can knit then check it out.

aww thank's Baby K! ur so nice :)

haha me knitting? i'm horrible at that! so that throws the teddy bear factory out of the question.

I really want to do something that involves lots of socialising with people.. i have to do some research on that soon..

anyway thanks!

I've never heard of having to do community service to receive your School Certificate o_o I'm quite sure you're wrong ahahaha.

My school has "Social Justice" (same thing basically) for Year 11 and 12, but as of two years ago they introduced it into the junior years but if you don't do it - it just comes up on your report saying you didn't complete your hours. (not sure about seniors though) I've already done mine though which is liek a minimum requirement of 15.

Some schools don't do it.

I have to :( Trying to get a place at a library somewhere instead of, let's say, picking poop.

Most Catholic schools require you to do some community service.

We don't have to do compulsary community service, though I'm doing the Debutante Ball next year so have to do 20 hours of community service. Any suggestions?
