i've been meaning to read 'House of God' by Samuel Shem ever since my crit care lecturer recommended it to us last year. it's based around the author's real experience in his first year as an intern.
i've borrowed it from one of the flight nurses here and started reading it after a particularly shitty shift at work last night when i couldn't sleep.
it was like it was telling my story - coming out of university and being lumped with responsibility and not being entirely confident how to use it.
anyone else read it? i highly recommend it. very funny, it's written for a wide audience but those in health care will appreciate it more.
might put a few people off wanting to study med, however
