I basically taught myself chemistry, my teacher was hopeless. Around 2 months before the HSC, I realised that we hadn't learned anything in class, and if I was going to pass chemistry, I'd have to do it all myself. If I could do it, anyone can.

Get yourself a copy of the syllabus, your textbook, class notes, tuition notes, anything that will help. Make your way through the syllabus, make sure you completely understand every topic - don't leave anything out. If you need help, ask someone.

As for concentration, that takes willpower. You need to convince yourself to study. You can find study tips in this thread: http://community.boredofstudies.org...009-hsc/184521/hsc-study-motivation-tips.html

The end of the year is in sight, don't lose out now! Good luck!

me too, I don't understand the language of chemistry and i'm having a hard time learning it:(
There's your problem!!

You really don't want to improve enough! Try to make more of an effort, I'm not saying you don't make an effort, but keep trying, try again and again until you get it. Actively think about what the textbook is trying to tell you.

There's no point in teaching the method. You've just got to DO IT until you find something that works.

Post questions, or something, and some of us on here might be able to help.

Well said Lychno.

My chemistry teacher said this to my class on the first lesson. Lmfao, it's a weird analogy.

"This is a rock, this is a bucket of water"
"I guarantee you, if you soak this rock in this bucket of water for 24 hours...IT WILL GET WET

You share my misery in chemistry. I'm the same. I sleep in class, I don't pay attention and fall below average in my exams. I suck at science.

Keep trying. THINK about what the book is saying. UNDERSTAND core concepts first - always.

When learning new concepts, just accept them okay - don't ask too many questions; it makes your life difficult.

Then progress to applying the concept to harder problems.

I bet none of the work sticks because you never go over it by yourself at home more than twice.
