Hi guys!

What should students include in a 'personal statement' for Uni scholarships?

Also, (this one is for a friend), if you are unsure about a course, are you able to still apply for a scholarship for that degree?
Basically, are they able to apply for scholarships for multiple degrees?
Also is it worth applying for a scholarship even though her ATAR estimate is only around 95-97 with minimal extra curriculars?

Sorry and thanks!
Both of us have no idea how scholarships work :(

wHiCh SchOlarShiPs / which courses are you guys looking at?

Also idk what context personal statement is in but generally for scholarship applications you should try and show them what kind of person you are through your experiences i.e. how your experiences have shaped your interests and you as a person, and what drives/motivates you. Try and keep in mind the key qualities they might be looking for in a scholarship student, and be as genuine as you can.

Also, you can apply for scholarships for multiple degrees but reallllly, don't be that person who chooses a particular career path just because they got a scholarship in that area. Make sure that the degree you choose is something you genuinely want to pursue and have an interest in. Be careful though
- applying for different scholarships from different fields might degrade your integrity if a particular uni decides to chase up on your applications for other courses I guess, because I know through cadetship interviews that they try to really pinpoint why you chose to apply for the scholarship, and they try to find out what you're really interested in.

As for ATAR - go for it anyway. 95-97 with minimal extracurriculars isn't too bad (because remember, it's up to how you pitch yourself in your application and how the interviewers/reviewers judge you), but then again it really depends on which scholarships you're applying for.

There are a merit list and requirements that have been mentioned to the university behalf. There are a no assumption that you must apply for only one scholarship, you can choose multiple and you can also apply with different discipline too.

The Sydney scholars one
The 'personal statement' can be found on the 'how to apply guide' on the Sydney Scholars page. It's essentially a few questions you need to answer about your academic merits, leadership experience, and why you're applying at USYD
