Conservatorium High School came 2nd with just 34 students - that was unexpected...

If they had just 8 more band 6s they would’ve beaten Ruse lol

You could have like 1 student in an entire school and make that person get all b6's then a school's success rate would technically be "100%"

Conservatorium coming 2nd was a mixture of its low population and good results. Essentially a low population is good because there is less chance of an outlier ruining it for everyone else and screwing up the rank.

I heard that they went with a 1 on 1 English approach since they have so little students, so they all smashed English. Plus it's selective not only academically, but also in music. So they always do amazing in music as well.

True. Not many people do music at other schools so they have aligned better marks i think

Think there has to be 30 students at least though. That's why they didn't have a rank last year

I'm surprised Sydney Grammar isn't in the top 10 overall

Dunno if Al-Faisal should be the No 1 for Maths. My friends that go there tell me they force so many students to do Standard Maths so they get more B6's.
This is why the system for school ranking should be changed. It can be so easily abused like this with just percentage of b6s. Imo the factor should be median atar

I know aye. I've seen more people at Parramatta High do MX2 than at Al-Faisal. Also to note, the Deputy Principal chooses the subjects for every single individual in that school. Like you're not even allowed choose what subjects you do. Everything is formulated so the school gets more band 6's.
What so like you put in a list of subjects you want to do and they determine if your good enough to get a B6 in them?

That is ridiculous and very poor on the principle and staff. A students choices matter more than the ranking of the school.

Nah not even, you dont put a list of what you want to do. They straight up choose it for you, and it's all based on your Yr 10 results. My tution teacher said they don't give a shit about your choice, they really only care about their ranking, which is sad.
What a shit school. If I was a student there I would transfer immediately imao. It's a private school so your paying them money so they can choose what you can and can't do.

Ironically even though it's a "high ranking school" most people that go there HATE the place and are only there because parents forced them to be there.

Also to note for Yr 7 & 9s everyone has to stay extra 2 hours back at school so they can increase NAPLAN results, like what the..
Wow that’s harsh

A bit of a different topic, but the work environments at all those top schools sound horrible, specifically the selective schools. Doing 10+ hours of tutoring a week would completely kill any social life you may have, as well as the ridiculous testing conditions some have. I'm glad to have graduated from a lower ranked school lol.

Reminds me of the old days of mfis tbh, I know people from afc some do hate it and move elsewhere whilst others strive in such conditions due to the $500 incentive as well as cheaper fees.
$500 incentive?

I have ADHD and went to a top 150 private boys high school and I've asked my parents to send me to tutoring out of my own accord yet I still bombed out during the HSC dispite speanding hours studiying and tutoring while trying to deal with my ADHD which was at its worst during my final term at Year 11 and first term of Year 12 while getting better towards the start of the HSC exam period.
