Just say for instance iam ranked first in a subject. In the external exam i get a crap mark (eg 60) and another kid gets a good mark(90?). Does this mean that i will get the exam mark of 90?

So this would mean ranking first in a subject is a good safety net incase you stuff up the externals?

You will get 90 for your assessment mark and 60 for your exam mark. Your final HSC mark will be the average, 75.
