are infrared and electron spectroscopy on the syllabus this year?

They are not specifically named that's for sure. But I suppose there is a small chance they could come under the syllabus point:
"Analyse and present information from secondary sources to discuss the ways in which analytical techniques may provide evidence about samples"
But it is my understanding that they couldn't ask you a question specifically about either of them because they are not specifically named.
Can anyone confirm this?

They can't ask anything outside the syllabus.. but you're right- infrared and that could fall within a few of the dot points. I know we covered them in class- but not in great detail. It'd be safest to know a bit about them, however they can't ask about one of them specifically.

That's what I assumed, although it does worry me that there were specific question asked on ES and STM in 2002 HSC paper. Does anyone know for sure that that part of the syllabus was changed?
