im in y10 rn and ive applied to 40+ places, all of which are engineering-related (UNSW, UTS, USyd, Atlassian, Arup, Aurecon, E3, ANSTO, Prance Building, SMEC, CSIRO, GHD, JHA, Northrop, Stantec, Structability, Sydney Civil, etc.). out of the 40+, ive received 16 replies, 9 of which were because they do not offer work experience, and the other 7 being placements outside of the delegated week my school allowed us to do work experience. one of my options would be to do a work experience placement in week 6, but i have my dofe hike in week 7, and my actual work placement is meant to be in week 8 (where i would have to find another alternative work experience (primary school, volunteering (which i am not interested in))). im just open to suggestions for what i can do right now, as im really struggling to find companies that would be able to host me for work exp and be flexible about the dates. only 30 people in my grade have gotten a placement, all of which have gotten their placement through their parents or relatives. any help would be lovely! thanks chat

Generally, work experience does not matter at your stage of life. If you really want, you could do an online course. Maybe look at the freecodecamp, udemy and coursera.
