oh yes, ur prelim
well i suppose all u can do is practice reading real latin, and go over grammar and stuff. dont worry the hsc isnt too bad: the seen translation and comment stuff is easy cos u will have seen it, and the unseen is only 20% or something

I thought it was like a Board of Studies handout for teachers?
Our teacher gave us this 15 page handout of words. It was a bit scary. There's almost no point though; it's pretty hard to imagine learning them all. People who get 100 in Latin exams don't get every single word in the unseen, the point is that you get the gist of it and there's a flow.

Could you please tell me where can I get such info? (A link would be ideal.)

I'm not doubting your integrity, it's just that I'm interested in similar kinds of stats for my other subjects. :)

Thank-you!

Hang on a minute - I feel really stulta now - Band 6 is the top band, not Band 1!

I'm sorry, I'm still getting used to the NSW system - I'm from Victoria.

Look, we all know the quote about "lies, damned lies and statistics" (once and for all, was it Franklin or Twain??) but you should always try to take comfort from statistics when you can!

[Sorry, I'm assuming you weren't joking back there]

I find it's too much memorising to know the latin off by heart... I learnt the story line and use the latin to help in translation.
I used to memorise it all, for year 10 and what not, when the content in the exams was more managable... now i just hope *laughs*

One thing: Know your vocab, espacially the basics. You don't have to get it word for word in the unseen, but knowing the verb is a good idea *dies*
