can someone explain this formula and what the values mean for linear approximation.

f(x) (swiggly)= f(Xo) + f'(Xo)(X-Xo)


i dont seem to understand the concept or what i should put in the formula.

That looks like the equation of a tangent to f(x) with point of contact at x = x0...
