i was reading about lightening protection for power transmission lines and it said that power towers have a cable running between them known as continuous earth line. In case of lightening this cable carries current to the Earth then wouldn't humans be electrecuted...if it is somewhere else, then where exactly?

If lighting hits this cable it travels to the Earth but humans wont be 'electrocuted' because Earth is an extremely large and has zero electric potential energy

Yes, the current will run into the earth. The earth can store a phenomenal amount of charge.
