Sure, women have greater career opportunities nowdays but they have not lost the major burden of running a household in almost its entirety. Now that is coupled with career burden. Two flatmates would be expected to share domestic duty so should husband+wife.

EDIT: When I started this thread last night I forgot to post the relevant link, as I was half asleep. I remembered this in bed and kicked myself (so to speak). Sorry!!Here it is:

infact i think that both man and woman should share housework time according to how many hours both of them work/how busy they are. Infact, i want a new breed of men who can cook, sew, knit, doctor and change diapers.

Sorry to disagree but a womans place is the kitchen. The only reason for being out of the kitchen is if they are cleaning, sleeping or providing some sort of service to their husbands. A mans place is on the couch, with a beer, watching footy.

I actually heard somewhere that a study had been done that showed in households when men did housework, the women on average did two hours more housework than households where men did no housework at all. I find that quite amusing, if ironic.

I can see how you misunderstood what I was saying. I forgot to include the laundry, they are also allowed there.

It ties in with IR and economic reform, but it's just an issue that is largely ignored by the current government (that's my take on it being headline news, anyway).

this is the dumbest thing i have ever read. 'national call'? what fucking bullshit. are you going to demand that it be the law for husbands to do as much housework as wives? yeah, that makes a lot of sense. here's a brilliant idea: compromise or divorce!

damn lesbians. stay out of hetero affairs

but wouldnt it be nice to help her out a bit? Shed be really tired, exhausted .. running around for you all the time. Itd be nice if you help out your wife, hypotheticially if you were to get married and put your feet up. If she runs around for you, you must mean something to her for her to be able to do things for you, so make her feel loved and do a bit for her and you as well. After all, you do live under the same house.

I agree, a slap on the arse or a grabbing of the chest would never go astray. It shows her that you care. :)

I will make her feel loved, it just won't involve cooking, cleaning or doing laundry because that is her job.

You really need to rethink your ideals, they smack of those of a pure chauvanistic pig. Sorry, someone had to tell you. Ever heard of fair dinkum?? That's all it's a matter of really.......
