i already posted this in the extension 2 english forum but jsut realised it would make more sense to post it here...

ok this is the situation.

three people in my class all received an internal assessment mark of 50.
at least one of those people received 50 externally (apparently - and i haven't checked yet)

HOWEVER,

the assessment mark for the person who (allegedly) received 50 is only 48, as is the internal assessment mark for hte person who didn't receive 50 (i'm not sure what his external mark was but he ended up with 47)

WHAT THE FUCK???

Deja vu?

Maybe your school stuffed up, or the school calculated the assessment marks wrong (I don't know), or maybe the school sent the wrong numbers? Maybe the moderation process was iffy?

I don't know... it could be anything.

I don't think it should happen no, but it has.

I'd ask the principal or someone (e.g. EE2 teacher).

Something isn't right, or maybe you/they have overlooked something.

This is probably the reason. They didn't achieve 50 in the externals most likely resulting in a non-50 assessment mark.

There's nothing wrong with that situation.

All three students are ranked equal-first.

They'll receive the average of the top three exam marks as their moderated assessment mark.

The average of the major work marks would have been 48.

ok here is one for you to work out laz

i got a hsc mark for pe as 88 when i was ranked 2nd
first place got 85
ok so far plausible

i beat the first place person in the actual exam i cant remember exactly what they got but the point is they should have got my exam mark for their moderated assessment mark and i should have got there exam mark or something similar ( assuming that they were ranked 2nd in the exam ) for my moderated assessment mark - correct

my results - exam: 88 assessment: 88 hsc: 88
first place results - exam:??? assessment: 88 hsc: 85
the mark sent by our for teacher for internal assessment to BOS was 1st - 82 2nd - 79

not that i am complaining but how did i end up with this moderated assessment mark???
why did

Cyph's explanation sounds good.

The students below you probably did well enough to push your moderated assessment mark up to 87.5 or something similar, which would show up as a rounded mark of 88.
