The media has always kind of portrayed the uni environment as being predominantly leftist. Is this the case?

Because here on BOS it's like a Thatcher Appreciation society.

Social issues almost all students are leftist. Unless they are religious in which case they are scum.

Economic issues, I dunno. Prob centre-left to centre for most students I think.

Fringe nuts at every uni however (Liberal students and Commies are probably a bit out there)

I'd say most outspoken students fall to the left side of the wall.

Are there any Neo-nazi societies I can join for the lulz?
Or will I have to settle for the socialist alternative club?

Yep

Varies between faculties as well. Not surprisingly the arts students tend to be to the left of the commerce and law students.

It's because university is the fall-back position for the left, who cant (or probably dont want to) transfer their flimsy ideals into political reality. Strange psychological need to always feel persecuted and hopeless.
Never has there been such a gulf between university and government- theory and practise.
Students side with their views by default, but their heart's not in it. They're like people who boast that theyre Catholic, but refuse to obey the pope or participate in the sacraments

What are you implying? That under the loud veil of angry leftist students lies a dominating majority of right wing intellectuals?

---

Uni students are shown as being mainly liberal left because they are.

As far as I can see, she wasn't implying anything.

Way to completely misunderstand a simple comment and massively overreact.

That's exactly what they're like.

i cant go to uni without being bombarded by leftist tards with their gay marriage and anti-war petitions. Universities almost always are overwhelmingly left and it makes me sick

No. I'm saying that the majority of students that actively advocate a "side" are left. But I'm also saying that the majority of the student body doesn't really give a rat's arse.

In the science faculty? Some are left, some are right, but most really don't care.

I'd say if we ignore social values (most youth, not just students, are socially left-wing these days), then yes, most students are right of centre, economically.

Things like the war, the environment and social values muddy the water, and that's one of the failings of this 'right-left' dichotomy.

No, I'd say that of the people who are out-spoken most are leftists both economically and socially. People who work don't have time to hand out shitty leaflets and don't expect the government to pay for everything either.

I'm not talking about the retarded outspoken minority, I'm talking about the silent majority. The vast majority of them ARE centrist or right of centre (only economically).
