IMO DON'T do this. Just go to O week and first week. Some wait will make the experience a lot more fun.

But yeah you defo can. you can even join a tutorial if you want. UNSW tutorials are publically shown, and many(COMP1511, 1521 2521) don't take attendance, so you can stay and tutor wont' even notice or care. I suggest doing this, cause if you go to a 2511 tutorial now, you'll get a sense of what a tutorial is really like, cause 1511 tutorials in the first week are kinda like a HS class, with class particiaption..
wow not a single slur or fetishisation of asian women. what happened to you.

guys please dont apply to maccas or any fast food place esp for the first time at 17-18 with no experience. they hire and mostly roster 14 year olds cuz of them having a cheaper pay rate that aligns with lack of experience. u won't get that many hours from them, please apply to retail or smth else

Bold of you to think retail will hire you.

I once went to an interview, for the dairy position at Coles Castle Towers, and the interviewer told us there were 5 positions, for 50 people. No shot you're gonna get in when your competitiors are people who were working at maccas since 16 and intl students who will work way more hours than you. Fun fact, intl students don't need to be sponsored to work casual jobs.

Either you get lucky(I did very, rare circumstance), have connections(a friend) or just work at maccas for 6 months, then apply elsewhere. Tho if you didn't get connections in selective, then you wasted your time. You could have had a much chiller time in normal public

Lol. real life isn't the HSC, where you have an atar which is clearly defined, and which will get you into the course you want. Even if you are the perfect candidate, the interviewer may not like you.

And yes. I had no experience at 18, and I consider myself lucky. One of my friends who got a job, had his dad ask one of his petrol station friends to get him the job. Another friend, lived right next to the store, and the store hired a shit ton of people. Same with me. Store near me expanded, and hired like 100 people, and even then, there were 300 applicants. I had a 1/3 chance of getting that job.

Imo ask ur dad to ask one

If you can't do that, ask one of your friends for a reference.

If you have no friends, be a hot girl, and apply for retail jobs. Everyone(except f*ggots) likes hot girls. They're such a morale booster, we have a hot girl(Half Italian half Dutch(she thankfully does not look Dutch)) in our department, and like everyone loves her. And if you go to like Myer, Gazman or retail joints, you'll see a lot of hot girls there. Mostly European.

If you can't do that apply to Maccas, and deal with shit shifts, and sludge throgh for 6 months, to get job expereince, then move to retail.

There are a shit ton of intls, who need that job to live, and will work longer and harder than you will, and stores would rather hire them, than you.

what connections are there to make in selective? there are other benefits of selective than just making connections lmfaoo
Do you not make connections in selective? I thought NSB, Sydney Boys, and James Ruse were all in one big circlejerk community, where they recruit each other for SOCs, and were really tight. I knew some people who went to Knox/Barker and I can confirm that Privates do have a significant networking benefit, tho not 50k a year.

Unless you're gunning for med/law/actl, atar above 85 isn't useful imo. If you are gunning for the big 3, then yeah selective is important.

Thats true i guess, we have a selective + private schools discord server for my grade where it's like 30% ruse. but thats about as far as it goes for making connections, like i dont know a single person from sb or sg

SEE! Public schools don't even have that, cause the students aren't really similar to each other. There are bogans, European sluts, Asian kids, politically correct nerds(They are the fucking worst). From my experience most the students don't really like each other, and stop talking to each other, months after HS ends.

So after HS, ur on ur own. Jobs, Socs, anything social, you have to do it from the ground up, which is difficult.
