You advanced people need to know, advanced/standard get scaled the same by UAC, it's just harder to get band 6 because the students aren't that smart.

Eng Std HSC Mark: 76
UAI: 83.40

I beat someone who is doing English Advanced, Ext1 and Ext2 as they got a UAI in the 60s!
It all goes to show it's how hard you work, not the courses you choose.

No you dont. if you did Advanced and got the same mark you waoudl have a much lower UAI, play with SAM to see it before your eyes.

I think we need to print STANDARD SCALES THE SAME AS ADVANCED on the front of every hsc exam paper from now on.
NO IT DOESNT. They dont scale the same. Infact anymark below 90 in advanced is scaled down compared to the same mark in standard. Chances are if you can get 83 in advanced you can probably do better in standard. Unless you're blitzing Adv Eng, do standard because it really boosts your UAI.

From SAM based on 2004

English (Advanced)
Aligned HSC Mark 86
Band 5 Top 19.0%
Aggregate Contribution77.8

English (Standard)
Aligned HSC Mark 86
Band 5 Top 0.4%
Aggregate Contribution 78.8

So be thankful you did standard because you would all have Lower UAIs if you did Advanced. The lower you get the bigger the difference between the Adv and Std Aggregate Contribution mark.
