Two questions:

So when i'm working out my UAI for myself, or estimating it, do i use percentiles or marks? Am i far better off to work out my percentiles?

And secondly, i think someone asked this before but i'm just making sure, it's better to get in band 6 when not many others did, rather than getting band 6 along with 20% of the canditure or whatever.

Standard English

Just a quick question hopefully someone knows the answer too. Will the person who gets first in standard english be recognised, or does the Advanced person only get announced? I noticed that the standard person wasn't in the 2002 stats archive. Just wondering. Thanks to anyone who reply's.

so if the percentage of ppl getting band 6 goes down, does that mean the scaling will tend to be higher?

In short - Usually (unless the scaled percentiles change a fair bit - but in most cases it doesn't).

You really can't predict the scaling from the band percentages...

Lazarus, this probably doesn't belong to this thread but i don't know where else to contact you.

You own the oz seeker right? because I couldn't fit all of my 14units in there when i purchased it. now that i know what's not gonna count. so can you help me to delete something and put back my Ext 1 English which i had to leave out earlier back?

thanks

Noooo... I got some borderline band 6s. I'm going to fry myself!!

And too many people did well in EE2!! (this means my mark of 46 isn't really going to hold up well??!)

Is the top achievers list in rank order? or is it random?

Gah... hmm.. lets say you topped the subject... either way, you would have beaten the same amount of people, regardless of what the percentage band is. So how would this affect your UAI in either year?

They don't give out ranks except for first, but then it's ordered by rank, and then alphabetically in the rank. So you can't ever be sure if you got a specific rank or if it's tied. (Except if the person above you has their last name beginning with a letter after yours)

Note: They didn't put a band percentage on the Standard English simply because 0.003% is so damn small.
