From what I understand, it's usually high 60s/84, so if you get 70/84, you're pretty safe, maybe its arguable that this years exam was slightly harder or longer or whatever, so you never know, could be as low as 65/84, could be as high as 70/84

Well considering a mark of 56/84 was 92% in 2001 and this was easier than that (in my opinion) id say high 50s to low 60s would be 90% (E4)

Am I right in suggesting that a moderated mark above 80 (40/50) is E4? You don't need to get 90 to get in the top bands in extension subjects.

At least I hope so
I think it goes:
E4 - 45/50
E3 - 35/50
E2 - 25/50
E1 - <25/50

yeh you are right there lostauzzie, its stays the same for everything.

this year's scaling will suck because the paper was easier than usual.

It wasn't that easy a paper. General opinion at (my) general public school was 'screwed'. Q6 and Q7 weren't easy to deal with. I think it was harder than last year's simply because the questions were so obscure.

well in 2004 , 75/84 got aligned to 48/50... 96/100 (for the 4 unit students)

so a 95 would be close!... most likely

hmmm... I dont think this exam was hard compared to previous years, there were tonnes of free give aways

I never attempt question 7 but for some reason this yrs was doable, for example

Q7 b i and the first part of iv... nothing much was really involved there, b ii wasnt soo bad either

Q7 a was doable, although i think i answered it incorrectly

Q's 1-5 were pritty average I thought and the cirlce geometry questions werent all that challenging... But then again this is coming from somone who's average for 3 unit is 60%...

It wasn't harder than previous yrs I dont think, IMO it was one of the easiest papers in yrs, the complete opposite to the 2 unit paper

I think quite a few ppl will get 100% in this exam!

What?!

I've done the last 10 years of HSC papers, question 6 was not easy at all. The projectiles question, it wasn't easy. Question 7 was just baaaaad! On many different levels.
